New CHR Public Art Project to Celebrate Golden Year of Sanibel
Artists Can Apply Now for Nonprofit’s Premier Fundraiser
CHR is excited to announce our next public art project, Give Your Art to CHR! Artists are invited to apply for one of 25 slots to create and donate a piece of original art which may include painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and more.
These works, along with each artist’s background, will go on public display beginning in October for two weeks at the Captiva Civic Association, and then onto various locations with lots of promotion in ovember/December. Then, on February 1, 2025, the artwork will be auctioned at an exciting event to raise vital funds for CHR’s mission: providing safe, affordable, quality housing for families and individuals who work in and serve our island communities.
This year’s theme honors the City of Sanibel’s 50th Anniversary, as well as CHR’s 45th Anniversary. We’re eager to see how our artists portray the unique verve, the vibrant essence, of this special place in the medium and size of their choice.
Application deadline is August 1, and we expect lots of interest so apply today.
Completed artwork is due by September 30.

Requirements
Artists of all levels of experience and working in all disciplines are welcome and encouraged to apply. Artists must be 18 years or older at the time of the application.
Artists must submit three (3) photos of previous artwork as well as a short Project Description (100 – 250 words) to explain your proposed artwork. In addition, artists are required to submit a short Artist Biography (no longer than 250 words) and photo of themselves.
Artwork
Paintings or drawings, on a canvas or on a board, will be accepted. The following size canvas/boards will be provided: 24 x 36, 30 x 30, 30 x 40, 36 x 48 and 36 x 72. There is no application fee to submit.
A previous canvas that may has already been completed will be accepted as long as it is similar in size and theme to current specifications.
To Apply
The application deadline for Give Your ART to CHR is June 30, 2024, at 11:59 pm. Applications must be submitted on or before the deadline to be considered for the review period. All applications must be completed in full and emailed to GiveYourArtToCHR@SanibelCHR.org.
Application review will take place through July 30th. Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by August 1, 2024.
